The intern programs at Westonka Animal Hospital and Lake Minnetonka Pet Wellness Center provide the opportunity for pet loving people who are interested in veterinary medicine the opportunity to work with our team to gain valuable experience, knowledge and insight into small animal veterinary medicine. We offer internship programs for veterinary students, veterinary technicians and assistants.
Interns can expect a hands-on experience in all aspects of a small animal veterinary practice along with the experience of interacting with patients, clients and colleagues. Interns spend time observing (and participating when appropriate) in the following areas:
- Safety/sanitation
- Wellness care and preventative medicine
- Oral and dental care
- Anesthesia
- Surgery
- Radiology
- Ultrasonography
- Laboratory techniques and processes
- Client care
- Scheduling, coordination and record keeping
